Overview
Our current wait time is approximately 2 weeks from the date we receive completed documents from both parties.
Both parties are required to complete and submit the FCS Application and Intake Form, along with any supporting documents such as Court Orders or Parenting Agreements. Once received, our intake team will review the suite of documentation and process to the allocations team.
How It Works
A simple, child-focused process from referral to service delivery
Referrals: Accepted from lawyers, courts, or parents directly.
Locations: Neutral, community-based settings (parks, libraries, or public venues) within Melbourne, Geelong and Werribee areas.
Availability: After 12:00 PM, seven days a week, including weekends and public holidays.
Supervision: Each handover is attended and supervised by Julie Robinson.
Reporting: Optional brief notes or summaries can be provided to referrers upon request.

A Child-Focused Photographic Record of Supervised Time
My Contact Memories
Family Contact Service believes that supervised contact is not simply a series of appointments. For a child, these visits can become part of their childhood story.
My Contact Memories is an optional photographic record created from the child's perspective, providing a gentle and age-appropriate keepsake of their time during supervised contact.
With the appropriate consent, photographs may be taken during contact sessions to capture everyday moments such as playing, cooking, creating, celebrating, learning, outings and spending time together.
The photographs are accompanied by simple, factual and child-friendly descriptions, creating a record that the child can look back on as a healthy reminder of their experiences and memories. The focus remains on the child and their experience — not the adult dispute.
Different from a Court Report
My Contact Memories photographic record is separate from Family Contact Service's formal Observation Reports.
Court and Observation Reports provide professional, factual observations for parents, legal representatives and, where applicable, the Court. My Contact Memories has a different purpose — it is created for the child as a visual record of their supervised contact journey.

About the Service
The Supervised Child Handover Service provides a calm, safe, and neutral way for separated parents to transfer the care of their children. Each handover is personally supervised by Julie Robinson, an experienced child welfare professional, ensuring the process remains child-focused, respectful, and conflict-free.
Purpose
- Support children through family transitions with care and stability.
- Prevent conflict between parents during changeovers.
- Provide families with a reliable, independent professional to supervise exchanges.
- Offer an accessible alternative to traditional contact centres.

Foster & Kinship Carer Respite and Support Service

Foster and Kinship carers are vital in child protection situations and taking care of the carers is important too. Our Foster and Kinship Carer Respite Service supports carers by allowing them time alone to rest and recharge after the intense demands of their role.
Family Contact Service offers an in-home respite service for children in foster and kinship care situations, meaning that children have the security of a consistent respite carer in the familiarity of their own home, whilst allowing carers an important break.
Alternative respite options include weekends away or respite care in a contingency house. Carers might like to take advantage of our respite service for a variety of reasons — it might just be for a few hours a week to allow them undisrupted time to complete errands such as shopping or to spend some much-needed time with their partner. Carers may also need extra support during more intense periods, such as school holidays.
Every year, approximately 14% of foster and kinship carers are forced to cease performing their caring roles — often due to a lack of support. Family Contact Service is committed to providing a stopgap for foster and kinship care families in need of support.
